Who is and who is not a casual employee?

On 27 March, the Fair Work Amendment (Supporting Australia’s Economic Recovery) Bill 2020 received Royal Assent making its way into law. The legislation clears up long-running confusion around who is and who is not a casual employee for Fair Work purposes. The distinction between casual employment versus permanent employment (i.e. part-time/full-time employment) matters because it impacts: whether a worker receives paid leave, and the pay rates of the worker including entitlements to leave loadings etc.
